Wayne Schell Urges All Californians to Protect Our Local Resources

A broad based coalition including the League of California Cities, California Redevelopment Association, California Alliance for Jobs, California Police Chiefs and Fire Chiefs Associations, California Transit Association, and dozens of local chambers of commerce, organized labor, transportation advocates and local governments are working to qualify the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety, and Transportation Protection Act for California's November statewide ballot.

If passed, this measure would close loopholes and provide new protections to stop the State from borrowing or taking revenues currently dedicated to local governments to fund vital local services, including those funds used for economic development purposes. The measure would also stop the State from borrowing or taking gas tax funds that voters have dedicated to transportation improvements.

By stopping state raids of city, county, special district, transportation, public transit and redevelopment funds, this measure will protect the vital local services that promote local economic growth and development in California. Click here to read why passing this measure is critical to local economic growth.

We encourage you to get involved in the campaign to protect local services, our economy and jobs:

This measure is critical to protect local taxpayers and the vital services that are the backbone of local economic development.  It's also a critical first step in reforming California's broken fiscal system by restoring more local control and accountability.
