Demographic data is essential in gauging the strength of one community or area, as well as comparing the strengths of one community against another. Economic developers need to know where they stand in areas of cost of living, population, number of workers with degrees, amount of available land, avail-ability of labor resources, etc. in order to help their own area and to compete with other communities when trying to attract businesses.
