The historic and charming City of Lodi (pop 65,000) is committed to
a balance of quality growth and effective economic development in
maintaining its sense of community and overall quality of life. The
City is ideally located within a short driving distance from major
metropolitan areas and scenic destinations. A number of factors
including affordable housing, community involvement, low crime rates
and a high quality educational system combine to make Lodi a premier
city.
The Community Development Director will have a key role in
overseeing Lodi’s progressive land use philosophy, which emphasizes
smart growth, sustainability and historic preservation combined with a
focus on economic development and redevelopment of the downtown and
heritage districts of the city. A key priority will be adoption of the
General Plan update anticipated in late 2009. Excellent leadership
skills, a strong background in community relations and city planning,
along with a solid experience base in economic analysis, project
management and city administration are essential to this role.
