ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Project Manager

THE JOB: Incumbents serve as project managers for a wide variety of
economic development projects and programs, including preliminary
analysis and feasibility, planning, financing and design phases of
projects and programs prior to implementation or construction and may
continue to serve as project manager during construction or
implementation phases in order to provide administrative, fiscal and
policy oversight and coordination. Projects include commercial
development of all types, mixed use developments and infrastructure.
The official title for this position is Redevelopment Project Manager.

THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience that would
provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical
way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a major in
business or public administration, engineering, planning, architecture,
landscape architecture, economics, finance or a related field, and three
years of experience in community redevelopment, capital improvement,
housing, economic development or a related field, including at least one
year of work with project coordination/management.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession and maintenance of a valid California
Class C Driver License or the incumbent must provide suitable
transportation approved by the appointing authority. Physically and

The Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona (ECONA) is seeking an
Executive Director to further the goal of quality economic growth for
the Northern Arizona region.

EXAMPLES OF THE WORK PERFORMED

Aligns and coordinates goals of the ECONA economic development agencies
(public and private) to propose policies that advance regional economic
development activities.

Staffs and manages ECONA's Economic Development Teams (Attraction,
Retention/Expansion, Economic Gardening, Workforce, Redevelopment) and
establishes constituent micro-loan program.

Meets with local key decision-makers on a regular basis to evaluate
business and market conditions, makes recommendations regarding economic
climate and possible interventions to sustain local economy.

Coordinates and undertakes a variety of economic analysis, research,
marketing plans, strategies, projects, and partner programs designed to
support efforts to promote and enhance regional economic vitality.

Represents ECONA's programs at meetings, conferences and trade shows and
is the regional ‘voice' and ‘face' of economic development to maximize
region's exposure and recognition throughout the state and nation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative.

Proven track record of coalition and consensus building in public and private sectors.

Extensive knowledge of principals and practices of economic development,
including thorough knowledge of economic, geographic, and demographic
factors that affect a community, along with a proven track record of
results.

Experience in economic development financing techniques, including incentives, grants and micro-loans.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Economic Development, Economics, Planning, or closely-related field.

Five years progressive work experience in economic development.

Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.


DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

IEDC Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification.

Masters Degree in Public or Business Administration, Economic Development, Economics, Planning, or closely-related field.

Experience with recruitment of scientific and technology companies, in
particular areas of Biosciences, Medical Device Manufacturing, and
Renewables.

Experience with data analysis and Internet research.

Economic Development and Redevelopment Program Coordinator
City of Brawley, California
Salary Range: $63,386 - $75,588 per year

Under general direction of the City Manager, coordinates the activities
supporting the City's economic development program and redevelopment
activities, including efforts focused on the retention and expansion of
existing business and efforts to bring in specific targeted businesses
to the City; coordinates with City staff and developers to include the
preparation of development agreements, develop and execute marketing and
business development efforts, coordinate with other County and City
agencies, and follow-up on business leads/interested parties.
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in Business,
Public Administration, Urban Planning or related field required, and
minimum of five years (5) years direct experience associated with
business development in one or more areas such as commercial,
manufacturing and industrial development, and/or experience in community
planning and development in a municipal environment; or any equivalent
combination of experience and additional education or training that
provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this work.
