Economic Development Leader Bruce Ackerman Remembered

It is with a heavy heart that we write to inform you that former CALED Chairman, Bruce Ackerman, President and CEO of The Valley Economic Alliance passed away August 26, 2010 after courageously battling cancer for the last six and a half years. While we are saddened by this loss, we know that Bruce would want us to celebrate his life and continue to further his passion and vision for economic development in California.

(click here for official release and more information on Bruce’s accomplishments)

Bruce wasn’t just dedicated to his work, he was dedicated to the work of helping people. His caring and compassionate touch was seen in everything he did and everyone he touched. If you knew Bruce, you knew that he was enthusiastic, supportive, strategic, collaborative, tenacious, and fun. Most importantly, Bruce put people first and was admired for that quality.

Bruce will be missed by so many people. And, we will continue to honor Bruce’s vision and legacy to the field of economic development by completing his policy initiative “Prosperity California” -a strategy for growing economic development in California.
