As managing director, investments, Rosie Rios serves as MacFarlane Partners' key liaison with public officials and the firm's development and capital partners to help form public/private partnerships that promote urban renewal.

Rosie has 21 years of real estate and urban development experience. Prior to joining MacFarlane Partners, she was a principal with Red River Associates, a consulting firm specializing in providing development, project management and executive management services for municipalities. In this capacity, she served as a strategic advisor to the District of Columbia, helping to recruit the Montreal Expos professional baseball team to Washington, D.C., and assisting in the planning of a new baseball stadium that would revitalize the district's Anacostia waterfront area.

Previously, Rosie served as the director of the Redevelopment and Economic Development departments for the City of Oakland. Managing a staff of nearly 100 people, she led the efforts of the two departments to facilitate development and business opportunities within Oakland as well as to revitalize the city's downtown and neighborhood corridors. She also led the city's efforts to retain the Oakland Athletics professional baseball team, developing a downtown revitalization strategy that included a new baseball stadium along with residential, retail, entertainment and hotel uses.

Rosie also has served as director of economic development for the City of Fremont (Calif.), as Development Specialist for the City of San Leandro (Calif.), and as manager of the Union City (Calif.) Redevelopment Agency. She began her career as a commercial property underwriter for General Reinsurance Corporation in San Francisco.

Rosie currently serves as a trustee of the Alameda County (Calif.) Employees' Retirement Association and is a board member of the California Association of Local Economic Development (CALED). She received bachelor's degrees in sociology, romance languages and literature from Harvard University.
