Kristy Nong


Manager of Administration and Member Activities

Kristy Nong, Manager of Administration and Member Activities is responsible for general administration including bookkeeping, membership renewals and retention, and quarterly financial reporting for CALED and the California Academy for Economic Development. Kristy is the Course Director for the Introduction to Economic Development Certificate Program at CSU-Fresno and heads the Award of Excellence Program for CALED. Kristy is also an entrepreneur and owns Akebono Japanese Cuisine & Sushi Bar in Granite Bay, CA.

Kristy spent eight years in the insurance and annuity industry with Vanguard Financial Services and Securities America, Inc. She transitioned to retail sales for two years with Verizon Wireless. Kristy has a strong, outgoing personality and a passion for working with others. Her background in communications, business/retail sales, and management makes her a valuable asset to the CALED team. "I have enjoyed my time here at CALED and promoting economic development in the state of California. I look forward to implementing new ideas for CALED's programs," she says.

In December of 1980, Kristy moved from Hong Kong to Salem, Oregon, where she lived for three years before relocating to Sacramento. Kristy is very family-oriented; she is the eldest of seven children and is fluent in both English and Cantonese.

During her leisure time, Kristy enjoys entertaining family and friends, and cooking to escape stress. She is working on writing and publishing her own cookbook. She has a background in music as well as formal vocal training. For ten years, Kristy's theatrical talents earned her numerous roles in stage productions in the Sacramento area. She enjoys spending time with her son Harlem and fiance Scott.
