Kathy Millison has dedicated her career to local government management for thirty one years and serves as City Manager of Clovis since appointment in 1991. Prior to her appointment in Clovis she also worked in local government, labor relations, economic development, environmental review and land use planning for communities in Washington and Oregon.
She is active in her profession and her community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Local Government; and the Executive Board of the City Manager's Department of the League of California Cities as a Past President. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Corporation serving Fresno County, chair-elect of the Board of Directors of the California Association for Local Economic Development and its financial and educational affiliates, chair of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Clovis Schools, member of the Clovis Rodeo Association, member of the International City / County Management Association and its local affiliate Cal-ICMA, and benefactor of the California City Management Foundation.
In recent years, Ms. Millison was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" for the Central California Excellence in Business Awards sponsored by The Fresno Bee for her contributions to sound business practice and integrity in public service; was recognized as one of the 100 Influential and Power 25 Women by Central Valley Business Street magazine; and was selected as one of the "Women of Distinction" contributing to enrichment of the region by Soroptimist International of Clovis, "Top Ten Business/Professional Women of the Year" by the Marjoree Mason Center, and "Professional and Business Woman of the Year" by the Clovis Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Millison is a graduate of Michigan State University with a major in biological sciences where she also worked as research assistant for the Institute for Water Research; has completed post-graduate studies in public administration and political science at California State University, Fresno, ethics for public administrators at the Josephson Institute of Ethics, Los Angeles, and strategic management of public organizations at University of California, Berkeley. She serves as a mentor to young professionals seeking a public service career and promotes Next Generation connections in the Central Valley.
